M.E / CFS was created by Claudia
Hi I'm Claudia and new to the forum .. any help would be gratefully appreciated.
I have suffered with M.E for over 15 years ... I was pensioned off word through ill health around 10 years ago.. I managed to get back into work again 3 years ago but only doing 16 hours a week and claiming tax credits (as a single parent) My son has recently left school and gone to uni so as I was unable to claim tax credits I asked my boss to increase my hours to 32 hours a week (4days) and was able then to apply for tax credits .. 2 months down the line and my health is suffering badly I have had to go back down to 2 days but am no longer entitled to tax credits again, and am struggling financially as I have a mortgage. I dont want to give up my job as I really enjoy it and don't want to go 'on the sick' is there any benefits I would be entitled to.
Thanks for reading x

As a starting point I would put your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

You may be able to claim PIP, whilst this is not an out of work benefit, as you have ME, the fact that you are still working may count against you, have a look at our PIP Claim guide for more information.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If your condition deteriorates further then you may be able to claim ESA, your doctor would need to certify you as unfit for work and you would need to use up any Statutory Sick Pay first, but you can claim ESA and do what is called Permitted Work, you would be limited to 16 hours a week and it would obviously depend on how your employer viewed the situation.
