DLA transfer to PIP was created by Matey
Hello All,
My postcode was added to the PIP migration list Sept 1st and a letter dated Sept 2nd, was sent out to me.
I have been receiving DLA for approximately the last four years and my last award was indefinite.
I have now made the telephone call to begin the transfer process, however I was surprised to be asked "Do I want my previous DLA information to be used", I replied yes,
as substantially all my illnesses of many years are sadly still the same. I have one more, and its medications to add.
What 'practically' happens when you say yes to using previous DLA information?
Many thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It just means that the assessor and/or Decision Maker can use the information from your previous DLA claims as part of the evidence that they use to make the Decision on your claim.
Even if you give them authorisation, they may not use the information and you need to be aware that the criteria for DLA and PIP are quite different so it is possible that the DLA information available is of limited value to your PIP claim.
We would always recommend that you try and provide up to date information wherever you can.

When filling out the PIP forms you should act as if the assessor/Decision Maker has no knowledge of your previous DLA claim and answer every question in detail.
