Question on ESA Assessment

You are receiving treatment for cancer by way of chemotherapy or radiotherapy; or you are likely to receive such treatment within 6 months; or you are recovering from such treatment

How long do DWP class recovering from treatment?

I know it will not be to long before DWP will be asking for a reassessment for me. I finished treatment in March 2014 and I'm still struggling my local hospital are currently running test to see if I have another underlying condition. I'm preparing evidence in advance for this so I'm not caught out as I was with PIP and going through appeal processes as these take so long.

There's no specific period defined, it will depend on how the claimant is reasonably effected by the treatment. Some claimants, admittedly only a few, will have no effects from the treatment, for others it may take months for them to recover, for some it will be much longer.

So you will need to show that you are still reasonably effected when you are re-assessed, it may help for you to discuss this with your GP to see what assistance they are willing to provide, a letter for example.
