ESA to Pension credit

ESA to Pension credit was created by micpra55
Hi
After receiving a letter from DWP Informing me I can now claim for pension credit.
I am currently on ESA Contribution based
I rang pension credit and gave my details And was informed I would Qualify for Pension Credit.
I then asked what would happen to my ESA claim, I was informed I had to contact ESA myself and cancel my ESA claim.
I queried this as I assumed that pension credit would Cancel my ESA claim.
Can anyone confirm do I actually have to close my ESA claim myself.
Or should pension credit have to do this thanks.

It's your claim, only you can close it.

Thanks for your very unhelpful reply Gordon I did expect better from you.
My query was, I was always of the assumption the pension credit people contacted ESA when a claimant transferred to pension credit from ESA.
I do not want to close my ESA claim without expert help.
As you know the advice from DWP departments is very poor and inconsistent.
I am sorry you where not able to help.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what answer you are looking for?
Your question was "Can anyone confirm do I actually have to close my ESA claim myself. Or should pension credit have to do this thanks."
My answer was that as it is your claim, only you can close it, in other words, the PC department cannot do so!
If this was not your question please repost and I will try and provide a better answer.

1. Gordon did reply to your original question (it may be wasn't the answer you wanted, but it was the answer"
2.Please do not forget these guys "Voluntarily" answer the hundreds of posts submitted to them in their own time despite there own personal health problems
3. An apology to Gordon micpra55 would be nice, i feel were out of order.
Sorry it really upset/angered me, Gordon or any other mod does not deserve that kind of response.
