surving on benefits was created by sharonselliennell
Hi, not sure if you can help or point us in the right direction, my daughters boyfriend has walked out on her leaving her with a mortgage and a 1 year old child, she works 28 hrs a week on about £6.60 per hr. Could you advise on any benefit she could be entitled to. I am very worried for her. Thank you

Hi s,

Sorry to hear about your daughter ! :(

We only really advise on ESA, DLA and PIP, but as a starting point you could try putting her financial details into one of these Benefits Calculators :

Benefits Calculator

Benefits Calculator

If your daughter can gain receipt of one of the necessary "qualifying benefits" she may get help with her mortgage payments in the form of : SMI

If she is able to claim SMI, she should be aware that from April 2018 it will change from a "Benefit" into a repayable loan. One of our other members was enquiring about SMI : Here.

Ultimately, it would be in her best interests to obtain face to face advice from The CAB or the like : Where to get advice

Or she could put Welfare Rights/Advice for her Town/Postcode into Google.

If she can gain face to face advice they will have access to all her personal and financial details and should be able to inform her about any financial help that she has entitlement to.

I hope the limited information that I have been able to provide is helpful ! :)
