Hi, Can i start by saying a massive thankyou to Benefits & Work, if it was not for them i would not be here.. i have just been awarded ESA for 3yrs without having a medical. i filled in my form using this website and i am overjoyed at the result. i was previously recieving DLA, SDA payable to me for life, so from the end of this month i will just recieve ESA.. How do i apply for PIP and will i need a medical if applying.. i have photocopied my ESA form for future reference.

Congratulations on the award and thank you for your comments about the site.

Have a look at our PIP Claim guide, this explains how to apply for PIP and what the criteria for an a award are. I'm afraid the criteria are sufficiently different from ESA that it is impossible to say whether a face to face assessment will be required, it will depend on the quality of information you supply on and with the main claim form.

Hi Sonnyboyo, that's great news! Thanks for letting us know and for your kind words about B+W. I hope that, if you decide to go ahead, your PIP claim goes smoothly.
