Can't attend medical due to PTSD. was created by Stan Hodgson
Hi All,
Can any one tell me if I have to attend a medical as having PTSD(Combat), I have rang up ATOS 5 times now to tell them I can't go due to my PTSD.
I even had a letter from my doctor stating that due to my PTSD I can not attended so now have to ring them up again to argue the fact.
So they don't believe my doctor, or my other specialist's as I have sent in 34 pages of evidence even though they said don't send appointment, some of my reviews were on the phone so I sent them as evidence that the appointments were organised.
Also due to my condition I lose my temper quit quick on the phone, and start getting mixed up my wife usually deals with this if she is available but she works and is disabled and cant phone from her work.
I also lost my DLA 3/4 years ago, at tribunal and all they wanted to know is how did I get on an aircraft for my holidays. And it has made me fell like a cheat and liar, Have been to therapy and consultants to try and find some way of a solution but there is always a wall to climb and some one to knack me up to climb another.
Has anyone had the same thing happened.
look forward to your reply's,
Stan

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I am afraid if the Assessment Provider has decide that you require an assessment then there are limited options for you to pursue.
By requiring an assessment they are saying that there is insufficient information in your PIP2 and the evidence attached for them to make a recommendation on your claim. If you have any additional information you should send it to ATOS, however, it will likely have to be significant to change their mind.
Would a home assessment allow you to get through the process? You will need your GP to write to ATOS to explain why you cannot attend at their offices. Whether one is provided is still at their discretion.
You can try involving your MP, it's a long shot as they have no authority to interfere as ATOS has full authority in these matters, but it might just persuade them to look at your information again.

You claim cannot progress while an assessment is required and if you fail to attend then it is likely that your claim will be closed.
