Ultimately this is only a Decision that you can make.

The first issue is that if you are on the UK mainland then any Change of Circumstances will result in your being invited to claim PIP and you will not be able to retain your current DLA award. Whilst some claimants will find it easier to be awarded PIP and even to gain a higher award, the assessment criteria have been designed to reduce the disability budget by at least 20% meaning that many DLA claimants will see a reduced award or even no award at all.

As an example specific to yourself, PIP has no Lower rate "care" award so you would have to factor in whether you have sufficient problems for a Standard award.

Lower Rate Mobility (DLA) is awarded because the claimant is considered unable to plan and/or follow a route, not because they have problems walking, DLA treats these two issues as separate. PIP combines the two, so whilst in principle someone with problems Going Out and Moving Around (walking) may be more likely to qualify for an Enhanced award due to the severity of the criteria they in fact may struggle to do so and only receive the Standard Rate, which would be equivalent to what you already have.

Have a look at the PIP Claim guide for more details.

If you are not on the UK mainland, then reply to this post and we will try and we will do our best to help.
