DLA to PIP transfer process was created by rj
Hi, I've been looking at the PIP claim guidance because at some point I want to be transfered from DLA to PIP, but I'm having difficulty seeing exactly how the process will happen. The B+W guidence seems mostly aimed at new claiments, and the bit on DLA to PIP doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'm just being a dimp, but please could someone tell me what forms I will have to fill in (and what questions they ask) and the order in which all this happens. One thing I particularly would like to know is will I get the chance to submit a full discription of my disabilities (like new claiments do) or will the DWP be making a decision on old or much less info. Many thanks. Rob.

The process is not significantly different whether you are a new claimant, a DLA claimant electing to transfer or a DLA claimant being invited (required) to transfer.
Making a claim for PIP is covered on page 12 of the current PIP Claim guide
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
You need to contact the PIP Claim line, the number is in the guide, you will be asked to complete a PIP1 form over the phone, this captures basic information about your claim so that the DWP can decide whether you are eligible to claim PIP, the questions are in the guide so you can have to hand the paperwork that you may need. If you cannot manage the phone then you can request that a PIP1 form is sent to you or you can download it from the GovUK site (link in the guide).
Once the DWP have accepted your claim they will send you a PIP2 form to complete with details of your problems in regard to the areas that are tested for PIP. The claim guide explains each of the 10 Descriptors for Daily Living (care) and 2 Descriptors for Mobility and how to explain your specific problems.
If you have any further questions then reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
