Please help me calm down

This is my first post.
I hope that you don't mind me offloading but I am starting to get panic attacks over PIP re assesment.
I was awarded DLA higher mobility and middle care indefinitely 3 years ago.
I had bone cancer 13 years ago and as a result I have an internally prosthetic right leg. I have a heart condition and also depression. My kneecap has dropped so that it is sitting on my prosthesis now and I have been told that there is no surgical cure only pain medication now.
I have a car via Motability and it is my lifeline. I have 2 small children at home too.
I have not yet got the dreaded letter but I am having panic attacks just thinking about it.
Any advise would be gratefully received.
Thank you

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I won't pretend that the PIP process does not require a lot or work and that it can be a stressful time until you hear the result, but you are doing your self no service by worrying about it now.

The best thing you can do is to prepare for the time when you are invited to claim PIP;
- Preparing now will increase the likelihood that you get the PIP award that you think you should receive,
- it will help reduce the stress of the transfer when you are actually asked to do so
- and being prepared puts you in control of the process which can only be a good thing.
Have a look at our PIP Claim guide and the other information in the PIP section. See
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
The guide explains the transfer process and what you will have to, but more importantly it explains the criteria under which you will be assessed and explains how you can explain your problems to meet those criteria.
After you have had a read of the guide, if you have any questions, reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi Sukina
You can definitely start preparing now all your responses to the Pip questions. The better prepared you are the less stressful it will be when the letter finally arrives and the clock starts ticking.
You should in particular look at the qualifying criteria for scoring the enhanced mobility rate. It's harder than DLA. That doesn't mean that you won't get it but if you do think you qualify, you will have to provide good evidence.
This is also a good time to get together all the medical evidence you have and identify if there are any areas you need to get more and use the time to see your doctors/specialists to see if they can support you.
And try not to worry...I know, easier said than done
