Sorry I'm using Samra account to ask a question not regarding Samra .

If you receive higher rate attendance allowance can you get vehicle tax exemption?
And also how do I apply for it ?

Hi S,

You have got yourself mixed up here !

Attendance Allowance (AA) can only be claimed by people who are over 65 years old for their Care Needs.

It has no Mobility Component, therefore an AA Award does not result in any form of Road Tax exemption/reduction.

Full Road Tax exemption is only applicable to current High Rate DLA Mobility Component Awards or Enhanced Rate PIP Mobility Awards.

PIP claimants who are only awarded a Standard PIP Mobility Award for "Moving Around" can claim a 50% deduction in their annual Road Tax fee :

See : : This Page.

You cannot make fresh claims for DLA any more in mainland U.K., therefore to obtain full Road Tax exemption or a 50% reduction you would have to claim PIP and gain an Enhanced or Standard PIP Mobility (Going Out) Award respectively.

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

PIP Self Test

If you are still interested in AA you can read about that on this page :
