Higher Rate Mobility was created by Julie
I am currently filling out my pip claim form to transfer from DLA to PIP and on the 'Mobility Activities' I am lost as to what to put I currently have a hand controlled motability car and not sure which part this comes under. Without this I cannot drive but by the looks of this form it doesn't count because I can walk 20-50 metres. I will only score 10 points and loose my car which will leave me housebound
can I score any points anywhere for needing hand controls?
Please help!?!

If you can walk reliably walk 20m-50m on the majority of days and you have no problems with planning or following a route then you will likely only score the 10 points. You will not score points for requiring hand controls, PIP only tests your ability to walk in this context.
However, if you cannot reliably walk 20m-50 on the majority of days then you should not be considered as being able to walk this distance. See the PIP Claim guide for more details.

The fact that you need hand controls would imply that you have severe problems with your legs or feet, I am surprised that you are assessing yourself as being able to walk such long distances.

thanks since I asked the question this morning I had someone measure out 20 metres and I can't believe how far it is I've obviously been underestimating how big a metre is
