ESA and continued receipt was created by lorraine
Hi All

i had a letter from the DWPP nearly two years ago saying that my ESA would finish on 23rd July 2015. Do I have to contact them about this decision or just fill in another form an submit it? Will they send out forms to remind me that it is coming up for renewal?

Hi L,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

Theoretically, ESA is an "Indefinite" benefit, but it is subject to regular, periodic reassessments.

The 2 years that you speak of will be the recommended period before your ESA is reassessed. (The prognosis of the ESA Award)

Your ESA payments will not cease nor alter until you have been reassessed and received a decision. (They can also remain the same)

You do not have to instigate your reassessment, you will know when your reassessment has started as you will receive an ESA 50 Questionnaire through the post.

You may not be reassessed in July as expected, as ESA reassessments have been getting deferred since Jan 2014 due to the backlog.

Have a read through these topics : Here and Here.

Of course, there is no guarantee that your reassessment will have been deferred so you you may wish to prepare in anticipation of your reassessment by :

Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

Whilst referring to the guides on this page, 3rd & 4th links down :

You should also be aware that it will be The Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA) (Maximus) who took over the ESA WCA Contract from ATOS on 02/03/15 that carry out your reassessment.
