ESA please help was created by lizzy74
Hello, I was on Income Support up until feb this year and I had a complete breakdown I have mental health and physical problems, during my breakdown my ex had to urgently move in to my home to look after the children until I am stable again anyway I cancelled all my benefits when I was having a psychotic episode and I screamed down the phone to cancel everything and with council help they re-instated it all except income support and was advised that I should of been transferred to ESA and I made the application on 30th April I downloaded the initial form and applied and a week later I got a letter to say that I am awarded ESA from 26th Feb and they accepted the backdated request and I would of been paid £149.05 from feb - april and then 150.70 from 9th april going forward.
But on getting the letter to say i would get ESA and then had to fill in the ESA 50 book and had to get the fit notes backdated and another going forward and done all of this and DWP sent text telling me they got fit note in march when that was impossible as i never applied until end of april and that i did not need to contact them, i queried this with my doctor and he said he has not done a fit note for me at all and only done them now when i requested them?
But DWP have only made 1 payment of 149.05 and nothing more since and i cannot do phone calls due to my mental health and have sent them everything they needed and all recorded delivery and i know they got it all as well, but they are not replying to my letters and no money? they now have the ESA 50 plus both fit notes and i do not understand why they said they were paying it yet no payment.
can any of you lovely people shed any light on this as i have never come across this before and really do not know what DWP are doing and why? the thing is the council and tax credits all know my ex is here temporary and he is treated as non dependant and it was the council housing team that did all the forms and my tax credits is still a single claim its just the ESA that is dragging and why they are not paying? my ex will only be here for a short time as i am improving and everyone is in the know and i even had a solicitor helping me with my mental health case, i just do not understand ESA.

It could be a problem with your Fit Notes or the status of your husband, or I am afraid, something else? I'm afraid that the only way to know is for you to contact the DWP!
You say that you have written and they have not replied, it can take 10 working days or longer for them to do this.
Can your ex-husband phone on your behalf, you would need to be present to answer any security questions and to authorise the DWP to speak to your ex, but they can take over the call from then.

Good Morning Gordon, Thank you for the reply and I really do not know what is going on and yes maybe I should get my ex to call them to find out but he is only here because social services advised him to on an urgent basis but all benefits places know everything but I am also not hiding anything just weird and I really do not know how ESA came up with them amounts as no other explanation in the letter of award.
I will get my support worker to call them as something is not right.
I appreciate your reply though so thanks x
