At the end of Tuesday's hearing I was told they would be reinstating the mobility component, backdated and to be paid until 2017....I assumed as I was on the higher rate of mobility whilst on DLA that it would be the same but I received a letter this morning from the court stating I would be on standard rate...really disappointed...can't believe it considering my osteoarthritis has deteriorated at such a rate in the last 5 months that I no longer go out as I'm in too much pain..so a bit of a hollow victory really but thanks once again for all the info available on this site.

Hi M,

I am sorry that you didn't receive The Enhanced Mobility PIP Award that you were expecting !!

Enhanced PIP Mobility for "Moving Around" is a lot more difficult to qualify under than HR Mobility DLA, the main reason being EM PIP = 20 metres benchmark distance, HR M DLA = 50 metres benchmark distance.

On a more positive note, a Standard PIP Mobility Award where the minimum 8 points required have been awarded for "walking" limitations under "Moving Around" also gives you automatic entitlement to a Blue Badge.

It also gives entitlement to a 50% reduction in your Road Tax.

See just over half way down : This Page.

Under the heading : Vehicle tax reduction.

I am assuming that you are not considering challenging this decision to The UTT.

If you do require information regarding that, please let us know.

bro58...I definitely wouldn't be challenging the decision...the very thought leaves me cold...I've had a bellyful of it all if I'm honest...ok the award is better than nothing, the ironic thing is I've made an appointment to see an orthopaedic consultant and I'm paying privately because the NHS appointment wouldn't be until October and I couldn't wait that long as I'm in so much pain (my GP has recommended 2 knee replacements as the damage/wear and tear is severe)...just wish I could have had the appt. before the tribunal as I'd have had evidence from the consultant as well but hey-ho it wasn't to be...roll on new kneecaps I say and the all clear regarding my cancer in 2 years time...start living my life once again, fingers crossed.
