PIP question ?

I'm currently in the process beginning my husbands PIP paperwork which,as a
DLA indefinite award he could get anytime from October apparently . My question is this :
What exactly do we have to show in filing out the forms for PIP ?
Do we have to show how both my husbands current Mental and physical health effect his day to day life both wth his Mobility and Daily Living, or is it what and how exactly his Alzheimer's and physical disability effects him such as mobilising or dealing with situations ect ?
As you can see, I am gen confused here because hubby now has progressive Alzheimer's along with his already well documented chronic arthritis which in itself effects him greatly.
Sorry if the answer is staring at me,just having another bad day coping today.

Hi N,
"Do we have to show how both my husbands current Mental and physical health effect his day to day life both wth his Mobility and Daily Living, or is it what and how exactly his Alzheimer's and physical disability effects him such as mobilising or dealing with situations ect"
It's both !!
The PIP 2 Form is called "How your Disability Affects You" !!
You therefore need to provide evidence to substantiate that your husband suffers with the stated medical conditions, you then need to give details of the limitations that he suffers as a result of the medical conditions, then tie these limitations into the "Mobility" and "Daily Living" Descriptors that you feel he will score the necessary points for a PIP Award under.
You can take our : PIP Self Test which should give you some idea how many points he may score and under which descriptors he may score said points.
The whole process is explained in our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)
With PIP "Mobility" it is only a "Walking Test" which assesses his ability to "Walk" aided or unaided. These descriptors come under the "Moving Around" section.
There is also a "Going Out" section of PIP Mobility which covers limitations caused as a result of mental health issues.

Does this mean there is not as much importance on the actual disability itself with a PIP claim like say our ESA award for support group which hubby got for 3 years ?

Hi N,
It is important to provide evidence as proof that you suffer with your stated medical conditions as this will help to indicate that it likely (or not) that you suffer with your stated limitations/disabilities as result of the medical conditions.
Many people suffer the same or similar medical conditions.
However, this does not mean that they all suffer the same type and level of resulting limitations.
It is therefore important to show "How" your medical conditions affect you regarding resulting limitations, and then how these limitations (care needs) score you the necessary points for a PIP Award.
So, in that respect, it is similar to ESA, where your limitations caused as result of your medical conditions may or may not give you a WRAG or SG Award, rather than the medical conditions themselves.
You will probably find that you are repeating yourself over and over again with The PIP 2 Form, but this is necessary to give a full picture of how your disability affects you on a daily basis with respect to PIP Mobility and Daily Living Activities.

A simple way of looking at this may be to put it into 3 stages.
1. You suffer from XYZ medical conditions which are confirmed by the medical evidence that you provide.
2. As a result of XYZ medical conditions you suffer ABC limitations, give details of resulting ABC limitations.
3. Tie these resulting ABC limitations into the PIP Activities/Descriptors where the ABC limitations impact on that particular PIP Activity, giving details of how and why.
One limitation may impact on several different Activities, hence you might need to repeat yourself !
