Hi Guys! Quick question about ESA transitional payments. (forgive me if i have asked here before but cant find any historic post in my profile page it would have been 2 years ago approximately when my daughter was 16)
I get a transitional amount on top of ESA but my daughter finishes sixth form mid June. When i was on IB there was a weekly amount added for her which increased the amount of the transitional payment;so should the DWP be informed and will her leaving school affect the transitional payment; or is the transitional payment a permanent fixed amount regardless of circumstance? Common sense would indicate that a change should occur;but this is Gov policy and when does common sense enter into their thinking! Thank you in advance for your time and any response Regards Matchseller
Whilst the Transitional payment can be affected by a Change of Circumstances, ESA has no Dependant Allowance and so your daughter turning 18 will not count as a C of C. I see nothing in the ESA Transitional Regulations that covered the transfer from IB to ESA that would now have effect, so I would expect your payments to continue as they are now.
That said, I would still be tempted to write to the DWP about the change just to cover yourself.
