new application was created by Lloyd Barnes
I had been awarded Pip from 15 October 2013 to 23 April 2016. So I assumed it was for the 3 years as the dates suggest, However, I had recieved a letter requesting that i fill out a new application for pips in April this year 2015. I filled out this new application form and sent it back. I have just received a letter saying that I may have to go for an assessment again. I could receive an appointment date within sixteen weeks. Surely that is less than the 3 years.
Having given this much thought, I came to this conclusion, When I first applied I had been refused and only gained pips after I had made a telephone call to DWP and suggested that my assessment report must have been crossed with someone else’s and the assessor had clearly made a number of errors in her report, she had suggested in her report that I had been able to bend and lift a shoulder bag!! "NOT" and I had lased shoes on and must have tied them myself, "NOT". So I was refused on that information. Having made the phone call to DWP I was given 2 extra points which meant I had enough points to get care component at standard rate and no mobility, so I appealed and was told in the appeal that unless I have a representative I could loose the award and they couldn’t see how I was awarded this in the first instance, so I should consider an adjournment and find a legal representative. I withdrew my appeal completely. I believe that for this reason they have sent me the new form to reapply. Know I am concerned that they are going to withdraw my pips and I will not have any income. I am stressed out and feel suicidal. Don't know what to do.

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I am afraid that it in normal procedures to receive PIP renewal forms 12 month before the end of your current award.

The DWP say they do this due to the possibility of your reassessment taking several months.

Several of our members who have PIP awards due to end in 2016 have recently received renewals.

Have a look at : This Topic.

Whether you will be required to take part in a face to face assessment will be dependent on if they feel that they can make paper based recommendations on the evidence that you have provided.

Have a look at the following :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

PIP Self Test
