help with NHS costs was created by edt7
i wonder if you could give me some advice, i have recently been award ESA in the SG, but it is contributions based, this therefore means that we have to pay part of NHS costs, etc
my partner is a pensioner, and our total joint income is £285.95, is there anyway way i could ask/get some of my ESA as income related, and if so how do i go about this
many thanks in advance
PS i am also amazed that for housing benefits our max. income allowed is £292.90 while for NHS costs, there max is only around £260, how can there be 2 maximum income allowed by the governement?

Hi e,
You can only be paid IR ESA if you can pass the means test with respect to capital, assets, savings, household income, and any hours worked by a partner if you have one.
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
&
ESA Premiums
From the income figures that you have provided it doesn't seem that you would have any entitlement to IR ESA top-ups in addition to your CB ESA, but I cannot give a definitive answer as I do not know your full personal circumstances.
It would not be possible to provide such detail on a publicly viewed forum.
If you think that you may have entitlement to IR ESA top-ups, you could request an ESA 3 Financial Assessment Form from The DWP.
You could try using these : Benefits Calculators. to give you a rough idea, or ask CAB, DIAL, AGE UK or the like to carry out a full benefits check for you, to ensure you are receiving your full entitlement.

I can't really comment on your "PS" query !
