PIP APPEAL was created by bassettsfarm
Hi All,
I was just wondering if any of you know what the success rate is for PIP hearings at Tribunal level please? It's all so stressful, and just the thought of having to sit through a hearing makes me feel ill! Is it worth my while taking an appeal this far? I know that the decision thus far is wrong, but I'm so worried about the enormity of the next stage.

Many thanks

I'm not aware of any recent statistics that specifically identify PIP hearings from any other.

On a more general basis, statistically the likelihood of success for an Oral hearing, that the claimant is attends, is in excess of 40%, for a Paper hearing that is not attended it is about 10%.

The figures for DLA have tended to be about 5% above the average, I can't say whether this would carried forward into PIP, or whether it would be the reverse.

Appeals supported by a trained welfare advisor can be quite a lot higher, but this can be misleading as they cherry pick the claims to support.

:) thank you, Gordon. I shall opt for attending a hearing, then! Thank you also for the information regarding the welfare rights officers. Where would I even start to find one? So sorry to be so dim about things.
