Anyone had a PIP tribunal on mental health grounds

Hi crystaltips happy to say that my daughter went from zero to enhanced rate of both components thanks to this site. I followed the info on PIP appeals and tribunal submissions and picked the decision makers decision apart in a point by point way for each descriptor. I sent this in a week before - they like to receive it 7 days before the hearing so that the tribunal members have chance to read it. Good job I did as my daughter became more and more anxious towards the date and her mental health social worker rang the court the day before to say she couldn't attend and asked them to make a paper based decision.Best advice I can give you is to follow the advice on this site . Good luck x

My daughter is in exactly this position. How long have people had to wait for a tribunal date?

Tribunal waiting times have reduced quite significantly over the last year, primarily due to the introduction of Mandatory Reconsiderations, however, for PIP this has been somewhat offset by PIP being a new benefit and panels being requiring proper training before they can sit. There are also regional variations.

At one extreme we have seem a couple of members having a hearing ion or just after the minimum one month at the other we are still hearing of waiting times of six months or more.

Sian Jones wrote: Hi I have sent a post in regarding the same thing - PIP tribunal re MH and the Decision makers attitude that people with enduring MH only need 'prompting' to go out. My daughters tribunal is tomorrow but as she is unable to attend her Mental Health Social Worker has asked them to make a paper based decision. You will see my post after moderation hopefully and I will post the results when we get them x

Other post can be seen : Here.

That's excellent news - well done!

One up for MH at last :)

Can I ask what the attitude is likely to be in my tribunal tomorrow. Are they in the main sympathetic and just trying to work out what points you should get in a fair way?

I'm afraid they won't be sympathetic as this would imply bias, they should be neutral and base their Decision on the evidence and the information you supply on the day.

Good luck
