PIP home visits was created by Dexy
I am having a PIP assessment at my home very soon, and wanted to know if the assessor will request to look round my house or not to gather any 'evidence?'

Also, can I ask the assessor what kind of medical professional they are, or will they volunteer this information?

I have a friend sitting in with me for moral support and I want them to take notes. Am I entitled to this, or should I ask permission of the assessor? I am worried I won't remember everything that's discussed.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Al,

We have had feedback from members regarding this which indicates that the Assessor is happy to carry out the Consultation in the room of your choosing.

i.e. They do not ask to look around.

You may of course choose to show them any aids/adaptations that you have in other rooms.

Yes, you can ask them if they don't volunteer the information.

It is fine to have someone present to take notes for your future reference, the Assessor may not like it, but they cannot stop it.

You can read what to expect at your PIP Consultation from page 64 onwards of our :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

Good luck and keep us updated ! :)
