esa assessment centre was created by blueshouter
have my assessment soon for esa
when I got the appointment through,i phoned to ask was there a lift for people with walking difficulties, and was told yes
anyway my friend who is accompanying me went down to have a look, and there is no lift and just a ramp about 150 metres long
so if I navigate the ramp, surely they will pass me fit for work,as its my mobility that's my main problem
also how do the doctors normally access your mobility
thanks

You are right to assume that the assessor will include any walking that you do from when you leave home as part of the assessment.

You do need to be aware the ESA test is not just about your ability to walk, it also looks at your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or to even own one for this to be considered.

Assuming that it is the case, you need to show that your use of wheelchair is unreasonable, this could be because physical problems prevent you using one, medical advice says you should not or it is not practical for you to use one, although you may struggle with the latter argument.

The assessor, most are not doctors, will look at your daily activities and offer an opinion on your ability to mobilise. For example; if you regularly shop in a supermarket then DWP guidance states that you are unlikely to have problems mobilising less than 200m.

They will only allow a home assessment if the request is supported by a letter from your GP and not always then, so I would speak to your GP to see if they will help.
