Well it's a good start, you should certainly speak to your GP, just in case ATOS/Maximus now contact them for more information.

I will certainly do that, appointment made.
However, I thought the onus was on you to provide supporting evidence and as my GP's letter is some eleven months old...?

We always recommend that the claimant takes responsibility for sourcing the evidence for their claim as you cannot rely on the DWP to do so, however, they are most likely to do so when there is a possibility that they will make a recommendation on the claim form only.

Unfortunately many GPs are derelict in their responsibility to answer these requests (for which they are paid by the way), responses such as "yes", "no" and "don't know" are not uncommon and that assumes that they actually reply in the first place, statistics show that as many as 75% of requests go unanswered.

The decision maker (DM) from the DWP called me last Friday regarding my assessment of 31st March with the Maximus doctor. Surprise surprise, I was found to be fit for work yet again.
This despite a letter from my GP stating that my condition had deteriorated and that I should be in the Support Group
I smelt a rat when she asked me what was in the medical reports. I had them with me but she didn't want to see them and obviously hadn't read the supplied copies.

Fortunately the DM awarded me 15pts and and has kept me in the WRAG.
She emphasised that she didn't have enough current evidence for me to qualify for the Support Group. My GP's support letter was dated April last year when I submitted my request for a re-assessment. I notified my GP that the DWP might contact him, but, the DM said the onus is not on them to do so.
I ran the letter content past you guys and you said it went partially towards my case, but not fully.
Is there a template letter that can be used in this respect?

I'm afraid it would not appropriate or indeed practical for us to provide such a template.

What you need is for your GP to provide a letter stating that you meet one or more the Support Group criteria, which specific criteria you meet and why they believe you meet them, with examples if possible, they need to indicate whether you are always affected or if it is only for part of the time what they would expect, ideally without your prompting them as to any of the content.
