I have been seperated from my partner for years and we have two grown up children in their 30's. My ex and I have remained good friends over the years even though we have had other relationships throughout the years.
He was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer last year and recently I asked him to move into my spare room so me and his children can look after him and somewhere the Macmillan nurses can visit for his palliative care.... Much better than where he was living. The Macmillan nurses have applied for Pip and I have informed the DWP of the circumstances that he has moved in as a friend not partner, I'm waiting for a home visit from them. Can they make us claim as partners even though that isn't the case, I'm simply making his last months comfortable. Please advice if you can and thank you.

Provided the DWP are happy that you are not living as partners then there should be no reason for them to require a joint claim.

PIP is only claimable by an individual, only an income related benefit such as ESA(IR) or Income Support would be affected by whether you were considered as partners.
