i am on dla indefinately, willl this mean i do not have to go on to pip or do i have to apply

this subject has come up quite a lot recently. As long as you were under the age of 65 years on 8 April 2013 then the information in this thread will apply to you

You will definitely have to claim PIP.
If your husband was 65 before 8 April 2013 then he will retain his current DLA award as long as he meets the criteria, if he was not then he will also be invited to claim PIP at some time after October of this year.
