Transfer from DLA to PIP & assessments for 17 yr was created by Laurie
My 17 yr old daughter gets DLA a and it is due for renewal in October, she turns 18 beforehand in June.
I have a few questions please.
Will she change over to PIP?
Are all people who are changing over from DLA to PIP subject to an assessment? Or is like it was with her DLA that some are called for assessment and others not?
Thank you in advance.

Whether she is moved to PIP will depend on whether she is living in an active postcode29 20 weeks before he DLA renews, see the following
www.gov.uk/government/publications/pip-postcode-map-uk
If she is then she should expect a letter inviting her to claim PIP, providing that she meets all of the required deadlines then her DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after a Decision is made on her PIP claim, even if this exceeds the current renewal date.
If she is not in an active postcode then she should expect to receive DLA renewal forms.
When PIP was originally introduced about 98% of claimants were having face to face assessments, the figure is now at about 80%, we can't say whether an individual will have one or not, it will primarily depend on whether the Assessment Provider is able to make a recommendation based on the information presented in and with the form and any supplementary information hat they might seek from your daughter's doctors.

Thank you so much Gordon. Sorry to be a bit slow...brain fog due to my illness. We are OX postcode, so am I correct in that she will get DLA forms and not PIP?
Once again thank you for your time.

Oxford is not currently active but this may change before her DLA comes up for renewal.
Please be aware that I have corrected a spelling mistake in my previous post, it should have read "20 weeks" and not "29 weeks".
