Hi I just got my award for PIP I was on DLA for high mobility rate and been awarded enhanced Mobility as well as enhanced care for the first time, I have been waiting since the end of last June 2014 the letter stated that it will start on the 28th Febuary and my DLA for mobility will end then and transfer over on that date, my question is that they said they could not back date any money's as it is PIP but surely they should be backdating the care side as I have never received this componant before, I wondered if you could enlighten me on this
Regards

Hi W,
Welcome to Benefits and Work
If it had been a totally fresh claim for PIP, payments as a result of an award would have been backdated to the start date of the fresh PIP Claim. (Generally the initial phone call)
Unfortunately, legislation dictates that where PIP Awards are as a result of being transferred over from DLA, the rate of DLA that you were in receipt of at the being of the transfer will continue to be paid until 4 weeks after the date of the PIP Award decision.
So even though you have received an "increased" award of PIP to the DLA that you were receiving, any extra monies will not be backdated to the start of the transfer.
