CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES was created by jan1
Hi everyone, I just tried to post this but don't think it worked so here goes again. A couple of days ago I had a phone call off someone who said they were from the DWP and they asked for my N.I. details as well as my bank details, I told them in no uncertain words to go away.
I know DWP don't do this but, today I got a brown envelope through the door which was hand written and looked like it had been opened and re-sealed, in it was just one piece of paper, on the top they had not put my name, my address, my N I number and it did not even start with dear mrs xxxx. It said "have you told us about these changes" then it gave a list.. If you move someone in with you, if you win the lottery, if you inherit some money etc and a phone number.

I rang the number and it was "jobcentre plus" I explained about this strange letter and phone call and the woman said they would not ring but they are sending out these letters to everyone as standard but they are not putting anything on them ie name, address etc and they are hand writing the name and address on the envelope, but if my circumstances had not changed that was alright.
Can anyone tell me is this the case or is something going on, has anyone else had one of these? I appreciate any feedback, thank you.

I answered your original post, see the following link.

all posts are moderated so they will not appear in the forum until a moderator approves them.

I see in this latest post that you have contacted the DWP and they admit to sending the letter, I am still surprised by this and think it extremely unlikely that any mass mailing that they might do would used hand written envelopes, given the millions of benefit claimants in the country, however, as there appears to be no follow up required, I would not worry your self any further about it.
