ATOS CONTRACT ENDS WHAT HAPPENS? was created by Patel
ATOS contract with DWP is supposed to end in Feb 015 and Maximus takes over from March
i suppose it is the 1st. ATOS has a huge backlog and cannot see the completing medicals
before their contract expires. Does anyone know what will happen to the left over medicals?

Maximus will do the assessments.

Hi

Does the 18 month backlog affect those of us who are due to be re-assessed later in the year. My ESA award runs out in September 2015, will Maximus try and clear their backlog first before tackling people like me and so delay the re-assessment or will it be business as usual and I can expect an ESA50 form sometime in the summer? It is very confusing and troubling.

Hi mcw,

In all honesty, I have no idea how Maximus will tackle the backlog !!

I can only refer you to : This Post, which you may have already read.

I am sure that reassessments will be reinstated as and when, on an office by office, area by area basis, dependent on the backlog in each individual office/area.

I don't think that there will be any national announcement by The DWP stating that the backlog has been dealt with and reassessments will now recommence as usual.

They are not very forthcoming with any information that may put the claimant at ease.

It was only after the Tory Minister was dragged in front of Parliament that he admitted that deferral of reassessments had begun in January 2014.

I am afraid that our best advice is to be as prepared as you can be for the arrival of The ESA50.

Your only other option is to phone ESA to see whether they have your date for re-referal on screen.

THE ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 Press Option 3 for ESA.

Cheers
