Disability Premiums with ESA./PIP was created by barbara
Hi Everyone, i just wanted to share with you that i am on P.i.P.

From 19th Novemeber 2014 I have received the Enhanced rate for Daily Living Component with my score being 21 and a standard rate for Mobility, with a score of 8 points .

I got letters from my doctors and hospital also a report from my psychologist and a letter ,

i also have found out that i am entitled to premiums which tops up my E.S.A ,i was told about premiums from a friend of mine and my fortnightly money has gone up too .
I was thinking of appealing on my Mobility Component but im frightened in-case i loose what i am already receiving. should i be grateful that i was excepted and other people are not,

I have received 8 points for mobility ,i was wondering if my incontinence would would come under mobility, and aslo the fact that i feel worse on mobility because i have sciatica and suffer more with long lasting back pain ,i have been advised by my doctor to cut out codeine pain killers and keep taking my ibuprofen tablets for pain relief but i now am in constant pain ,it could be the sciatica but i will be going back to the doctors over this, ,

This is the first time i have written a post as i only just registered today after many months of getting emails, Thank you for reading and a reply would be nice,

Hi b,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

I have given your post its' own topic to avoid confusion.

Yes, we regularly inform our member that they may be entitled to Income Related (IR) ESA top-ups in the form of : ESA Premiums.

The FAQ above can be found in our : ESA FAQ’s

With regards to you requesting an Mandatory Reconsideration (MR)/Appeal of your PIP Standard Rate Mobility Award.

You are correct, in that there may be some risk involved in that The DWP can re-look at the whole of your PIP awards.

Only you can make that decision.

Remember, it is the limitations/disabilities that you suffer as a result of your medical condition that may or may not give you a PIP award, rather than the medical condition itself. (In most cases)

You have to consider that you would need to attain a further 4 points to be awarded Enhanced Rate Mobility PIP.

A good starting point may be to take out : PIP Self Test whilst being very strict in how you score yourself.

You could also review our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

If you do decided to request an MR, you have one month from the date of the PIP Decision Notice letter to do so.

Further information on this can be found from the following link :
