I have had to reapply for my DLA. This has thankfully been award but states indefinite.I'm confused as I thought as I will eventually have to apply for Pip?

When do I need to start worrying please...is it this October?

Thank you for any light you can shed

Hi Hh,

Indefinite awards of DLA are still being given even though DLA is being phased out in favour of PIP.

Any DLA recipients who currently have an Indefinite DLA Award can expect to be invited to transfer over to PIP "Sometime after October 2015" (They are the actual words used in the Government guidance) running until 2018.

So there is no "definite" date for DLA recipients with Indefinite awards.

We also have to take into account that there is currently a huge backlog with PIP, and that is before the national roll out is supposed to begin after October 2015.

We also have the small matter of a General Election in May.

Hi jm,

If there is a change in Government things "may" change.

e.g. Labour have intimated that they may pause and re-evaluate the roll-out of Universal Credit. (UC)

There has also been mention that the national roll-out of invitations to claim PIP for current DLA recipients with Indefinite Awards "Sometime after October 2015" may be delayed until the current huge backlog with PIP Claims and Assessments is dealt with.

It is all really an unknown quantity, and I am afraid that we will have to wait and see.
