Could someone please advise me on P I P. I have a friend who has a lifetime personality disorder he can,t be around people, he already claims E S A so is it worth his time claiming P I P ?

Hi nc,

ESA and PIP are two totally separate "Benfits" with differing qualifying criteria, although there are some similarities.

PIP will assess how your disability affects you as a result of the medical conditions suffered.

PIP is non means tested, and is not classed as income for other means tested benefits.

A good starting point may be our : PIP Self Test as a rough guide.

If you live in Northern Ireland, (NI) PIP is not yet active, therefore it would have to be a claim for DLA.

Many people receive PIP and ESA or DLA and ESA.
