PIP form query about ticking 'Sometimes' was created by Grace Knowes
I have severe PTSD and a dissociative disorder (hear voices, multiple personalities), and at least 60% of the time I cannot function (cook, eat, dress etc) , but occasionally I can do these things.

So e.g in Q3b, Q4c should I tick the box 'Yes' or 'Sometimes' to needing prompting, encouraging..?

With Q6b, I manage to wash me every 2 weeks. So really I need help all the time cos every 2 weeks is not enough..would ticking Yes be more accurate than Sometimes in this case?

Confused and very anxious, Grace

PS can I ask more questions later if necessary?

We cannot tell our members what to put on their claim forms but we can explain anything that they do not understand and give them options for completing the form.

By ticking "sometimes" you are saying that some of the time you can complete an activity without problem whereas at other times your ability to do it is restricted by your conditions. This is opposed to "it varies" which I don't believe is used on the PIP2 form, where you would be saying that you are always restricted, but the degree to which you are changes.

First let me say that you do not need to tick the box if you do not feel that it accurately represents your limitations, simply cross it out and mark it "see below" and explain in the comments box and/or attached pages how your conditions affect your ability to complete a particular activity.

Whether your condition affects you some of the time or it varies, you need to explain how this occurs, in particular the degree that you are affected and for how long. So you might talk about how you are for the majority of the time and how you are when you are at your worst, if you are still restricted, even when at your best then you should mention this as well.

Remember that all activities must be carried out Reliably for you to be considered as being able to complete them successfully. Reliably covers

• Safely – in a fashion that is unlikely to cause harm to themselves or to another person.
• To a necessary and appropriate standard – given the nature of the activity.
• Repeatedly – as often as is reasonably required.
• In a timely manner – in a reasonable time period.

If you have more questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help you.
