Private WRA companies and JSA. was created by drewan
Following a bad accident, I was transferred from JSA to ESA with required GP's sick notes. One year on, I am still under the hospital/physio, but no longer have to provide sick notes. This appears to be because , after a while, I was transferred from the DWP jurisdiction to a private company giving support and advice at present, but presumably I will be required to do more active activities in due course. I still get ESA. However I know very little about these private suppliers.
My question is: What criteria do these private companies use to decide whether sick notes will be required again and also when they can transfer you back to the Jobcentre/JSA? Will any voluntary work affect their attitude? Are they working under the same regs as DWP?
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks, Drewan.

It sounds like you have been placed in the WRAG and subsequently forwarded to a Work Programme Provider.
It would be worth you contacting the DWP to confirm that this is the case.
If you are in the WRAG then you will not be asked to provide Fit Notes again.
If you are in the WP then the placement lasts for 2 years and then you will be transferred back to the JC+, assuming you have not been able to return to work in the interim.
WPPs are limited by the same laws as the JC+, so as an example you cannot be asked to work or to seek work, but you can be asked to undertake certain work placements. You need to be aware that many activities are mandatory and your benefit can be sanctioned if you fail to comply. See
