Transfer DLA to PIP was created by freeway
Hi,
I am new to the forum.
My husbands DLA fixed rate period ends on September 10th just before his 65th birthday.
When will he receive an invitation to re applly as his mobility condition has deteriorated.
Would it be best to apply now or wait for the letter?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If you are on the UK mainland, not N. Ireland then the first thing you need to consider is whether your postcode is an active postcode for PIP, if it is then any renewal or request an early re-assessment due to a changed condition will result in a transfer to PIP. See

www.gov.uk/government/publications/pip-postcode-map-uk

You don't say what award if any your husband has for mobility, you should look at our DLA Claim guides

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlaclaims

or our PIP Claim guides

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should base your decision on whether to apply now or later on how strongly you think your husband meets the criteria for the Mobility element of whichever benefit is relevant to your postcode.

If we can help more, then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thank you Gordon
our postcode is in an area where if he applied now it would be for PIP.
Do you have a rough idea when they will send him a letter to be re assessed as his
fixed rate period comes to an end in September?

Hi.

You should receive the forms around 20 weeks before the current DLA Fixed term award ends.
