Hi
I had my medical and i got my letter today. I scored a total of 7 points. I think they failed to understand how i feel when i talk to people and how i feel when i am in a crowd. I have called them to ask them to look at it agian. They are going to phone me sometime in the next few weeks.

I dont know what to expect from the call. I am just going to tell them how i feel when i am bad.
I am worried i might miss the call.

Hi d12345,

Sorry to hear that your PIP Claim was unsuccessful !! :(

Although a phone call "should" be adequate to make a request for a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) of an adverse decision, we do advise that you back up any verbal request with a written one.

We are aware of situations where a phone call from a PIP DM has been promised but has never occurred, or as you say, you might miss it.

Therefore, as you only have one month from the date of the PIP Decision Notice letter to request an MR, or face the potential problems of making a "late" request, it would be advisable to make a written request ASAP to protect your right to MR/Appeal.

You have nothing to lose by making a written request, as you do not currently have an award, and if the DM does phone you, there is nothing lost.

Have a read through our : PIP MR/Appeals Guides

Yes,

Put your name, DOB, and NI Number at the head of any pages or documentation that you may be sending.

Only send copies of any reports, medical evidence, etc, and keep copies of anything written by you.

It is important that you highlight "how your disability affects you" and reiterate where and how you feel you should score points.

Our guides will help you to explain this, and it may well be worthwhile reviewing our :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

You can always state that you will provide further information as you have access to it.

The important issue is to formally register your written request for an MR within the one month deadline.

We have now finished the letter. We have gone over the points like how I feel when I am with people and how I can not budget my money. It feels like it's my word against there's. I am really not looking forward to the phone call. I only need to get one more point. But I think it won't happen as I can only tell them what I have already said in the first form I sent them.

It dose seem they have mIssed the point about how I can't cope in situations were there are people and how paranoid I get.

Will they take what I tell them and have sent them as evidenced. ?

It going to be a stressful ole week.

Hi d12345,

Sometimes it is enough to reiterate information that you have already provided, as this may not have been fully taken into account by The PIP Assessor, or The PIP Decision Maker who has made the initial adverse decision.

Whether or not the reviewing DM will alter the decision in your favour is an unknown, but if your MR is unsuccessful, you can then appeal to The Tribunal Service who will re-look at the adverse PIP award with a fresh pair of eyes.

Please keep us updated.
