capita decision without medical was created by sbir
I rang DWP today just asking how come i was not asked to come for medical for my PIP regarding mental health, they said the assesor made decisionwith my prescriptions, letter from GP and letter from a manger from council service who supported my application. I dont know weather this is on my side or against me as the assesor only recived my form last week and come to a conclusion in a week. The DWP recived the hard copy today and said case manager will write to me in three weeks for decision. I dont know weather to send anything else like a diary maybe? Im just worried it might get rejected as they didnt call me for medical. Anyone else had a decision without medical?

I'm afraid that you cannot draw any conclusions from the fact that a decision appears to have been made without a face2face assessment. This is happening quite a lot at the moment, possibly in an effort to get through the backlog of cases!

If there rushing it to get past the back logs does that mean they make a proper decsion? Or is it just to quickly go through each form and give points to get it out the way? Sorry about all the Qs.

The change in guidance by the DWP is relatively new so we have not seen how this will play out, the original guidance was that only 2-3% of claims should be done purely on the paperwork, I believe the figure is now 20% or 25% and has been increased to try and deal with the assessment back log.
So far the assessment process has been quite rigorous so I think it unlikely that claimants will be marked down although you do need to be aware that there is no requirement for a face to face assessment to have been done where a claim is being refused.
If there is a potential issue then it will most likely occur when claimants have missed an award by a single point, but we will have to wait and see what members report in the forum.
