PIP home assessment was created by daisycat22
Hi

I have made a claim for PIP and have a home assessment next week. I am claiming due to fibromyalgia and mental health problems.

Since I first applied my physical health has deteriorated and I am experiencing more pain and I have had to get some aids to help me (walking stick, stool for the kitchen etc).

Should I make a note of how my condition has deteriorated and what aids I now have and present it to the assessor?.....Is this allowed?

Also my memory is absolutely shocking so I was going to have a copy of my original application form in front of me to read from, would this be ok?

Yes, you should write up some notes for the assessor to read before they proceed with the interview as they are required to by the PIP Assessment guidelines, it is really important that they have an accurate and up to date view of your limitations, don't forget that these additions must address the PIP Descriptors that are relevant for them to be seen as relevant.

I would recommend that you also send a copy to the DWP office managing your claim for the attention of the Decision Maker with a short note explaining what it is.

You can certainly use your notes during the assessment but you should explain why you are doing so to the assessor so that they understand why you are doing so.

Best of luck
