PIP Decision Not Good was created by angie45
Hi Everyone
I have had osteo-arthritis since I was 27 I'm now 55. I also have a frozen shoulder in my walking stick arm, as well as carpal tunnel in both wrists and arthritis in both hands. I've never succeeded where DLA claims are concerned mainly because I adapt the way I do things to enable me to remain independent. I had to go for an appeal for DLA last December and was told by the appeal that I was borderline to qualify.
Since then my condition has deteriorated which was why I put in the claim for PIP. I just received my PIP decision letter and I've scored Zero! I know I need to request a reconsideration by letter within a month of the letter date. I was just wondering if it's worth the hassle, as I'm currently fighting to get my ESA back too. If the reconsideration request is worth doing are there any guides on the best way to word the letter.

thanks
Angie

Hi Angie,

I'm sorry that you have been refused PIP :( No-one can tell you whether you should take this further, it will depend on many factors of which we are unaware.

The mandatory reconsideration info is in our members area - unfortunately I cannot link to it at the moment  but I am sure one of our other mods will do so for you.

Hi a45,

As advised by MHB, have a look at the following :

Mandatory Reconsiderations Explained

Disability Rights UK Factsheet - Appeals and Mandatory Reconsiderations.

There is also PIP Appeals Guides on this page :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip#appeals

You have little to lose by requesting an MR.
