ESA decision was created by cossack
Hi, I have been placed in the support group and have a letter with the decision on stating that my prognosis for returning to work is unlikely. I suffer from secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. This letter is approx. half a page of A4 but doesn't contain any info on how my points have been awarded. Should I be in receipt of more info as to how the DWP reached their decision? Advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Congratulations on the award.
ESA Decision Letters don't have any information about why the claimant was successful or how long the award is for, they only supply this for failed claims.
You can find out when you are likely to be re-assessed by contacting the DWP office that dealt with your transfer, the number will be on the letters you have received from them, just ask for your re-assessment date.
At the same time you can request the documents used in the making of the Decision, the following has a list of documents that may be available, you want to make sure that you request the ESA85(a) in particular, as this will be most likely explain how you qualified for the SG.
ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

Thank you for your quick response. I'll contact the office who dealt with me, but in writing so there's a paper trail. I'm quite cynical when it comes to the DWP et al !!
