ESA awarded - next move? was created by buster21
Hi there

IR ESA awarded to my daughter. Told over the phone it's for 3 years. She is in SG. Given on paper assessment, no face to face required.

Award letter is very unclear, it gives weekly amount of £123 and some pence but does not explain clearly how this was arrived at.

My query is, without contacting DWP again, am I right in thinking the weekly amount probably includes an enhanced disability premium?

Also, should I write to DWP and ask for a prognosis and how many points were given?

who would I write to?

Obviously we are very happy with the award. However, when it's up for renewal it would be helpful to know. Thanks in advance.

PS I apologise if this has already been covered.

Congratulations on the award.

I can't give a definitive amount she should be paid but I would expect it to be;

£72.40 - Personal Allowance
£35.75 - Support Group
£15.55 - Enhanced Disability Premium (aka Disability Income Guarantee)
=====
£123.70

As she is in the SG there may not be a points total, but you should be able to get an idea about which of the SG Descriptors she met, they usually stop investigating once the claimant meets the first one, so there may have been others that would have qualified her, but you will not know this for certain.

To do this request the ESA85 assessment report if she had a F2F or the ESA85A if she did not, from the DWP office that deals with her ESA claim.

The prognosis on these reports is usually used to set the re-assessment date.

Thanks Mari

On the last page of my daughter's award letter, it only gives a working out of the award during the assessment phase, and nothing at all about a breakdown of the upcoming main phase weekly rate of £123.70.

I kind of worked it out, and Gordon has confirmed it above it would seem.

Anyway, thanks for showing an interest Mari, and thanks also to the above moderator posts, brilliant information. Cheers

Congratulations on your award too.
