Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

The criteria for PIP are very different from those for DLA, also your son being 16, he will now be treated as an adult and there will no longer be a comparison to someone of the same age.

The major difference between the criteria is where DLA talked about Care in relatively generic terms, albeit in connection to bodily functions such as washing, dressing, etc., PIP looks at them in very specific ways and if you fail to address the requirements precisely it is all to easy to fail to score any points.

Without further information all I can do at this time is to point you to our guides.

You can appeal the Decision not to award the Daily Living component, the first stage to this is to request a Mandatory Reconsideration I do have to warn you that even if you ask for only the Daily Living component to be looked at the DWP can extend the review to the Mobility part as well. While you wait for the MR to be completed your son will continue to receive the current award.

Have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for more details of the process.

One of the things you can do once the MR has been requested is to submit further information and evidence, it would be worth your going through our PIP Claim guide (link as above), to see what the PIP Descriptors actually are and how we recommend claimants complete the form, this may give you some insight as to what the DWP are looking for.

If you have not done so already, you can request the assessment report from the DWP, give the PIP helpline a call and you should be able to request it, we recommend following this up in writing.
