I suspect it may be how you have phrased your post, but Income Based ESA is not limited to one year, do you mean that you claimed Contribution Based ESA and having been placed in the WRAG your ESA(CB) payments were limited to 365 days?

This being the case have you checked whether you are eligible for ESA(IB)? ESA(IB) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See

Asset rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

If you are eligible for ESA(IB) then you will likely also be eligible for Housing Benefit.

I am afraid there is no payment for a PIP claim until a Decision is made, however, if successful, then you will receive back payments from the date of application.

Returning to ESA for a moment, if it is still less than 13 months from the date of the original Decision and you believe that you should have been placed in the Support Group then you can still make a Late Appeal to have that Decision revised.

As an alternative or in addition if appropriate, if your condition has deteriorated since you were previously assessed and you now believe that you should be in the Support Group then you can ask to be re-assessed.

In both of these cases, if successfully placed in the SG then your ESA(CB) payments will be re-instated.

The forum has just closed, so if you have any questions on the above then please post when we are open again.
