I recorded the call but think I'll just hold onto it for now and avoid drawing attention to myself.

The man I spoke to was in a call centre so, like you say, probably ringing round lots of people. He did say my name was on a list he'd been given of people to call.

Hi sl,

Well done you !! :)

My advice re : writing/e-mailing was with the intention of creating a "paper trail"

I would always advise members to record telephone conversations with such people, if at all possible.

You are right, keep hold of the recording, if it is a digital file, you can place a copy on your P.C. or external hard drive/USB.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment!

I bought a nifty earpiece that records conversations and I keep it by the phone. Works on landlines and mobiles.

It is like an in-ear headset but with just one bud. Plug the jack into a recording device, like a digital dictation machine, mine was £35, then put the ear bud into your ear. When you hold the phone, mobile or landline, up to the ear, it records both sides of the conversation. The earpiece was about £5. It works a treat. Don't know if I'm allowed to post this here, so won't be offended if you delete.

Thank you for all your help.

Bro558 asked me to let you know if there was any fallout from my declining the short-notice home assessment on 20 Aug. Indeed there was.

On Saturday I received two letters dated 21 Aug and one more letter dated 20 Aug.

First letter dated 21st was from the DWP stating that I had to attend local JobCentre on Tuesday, today, for a Group Session. I attended this morning in a group of people with health problems although some of them did say they were fit for work again, so had only had time limited medical problems.

We were issued with a letter on the spot with appointments to attend F2F sessions. Mine is on 2 Sept. The meeting was very simplistic, the presenter made quite a few inaccurate statements and at one point said that as we had all 'managed' to get there, then we were 'managing' our health, our health was not dictating what we were capable of doing so they want to 'help' us into work. He said we could choose not to accept their help, but did not say what the consequences would be. He only ever referred to people having one health problem, nothing said about people with multiple medical problems, or illness, or disease. All about mechanical function, we got there, so we can work, although he tried to dress up nicely.

Second letter dated 21st was from Capita, just enclosing a leaflet describing PIP process and saying they would be in touch in writing within 20-26 weeks with an appointment.

Third letter dated 20th was lying on the mat for me when I got back from the Group Session this morning. It was from Capita, notifying that my home assessment is tomorrow lunchtime. The letter is dated 20 Aug, so I wonder why it arrived the day before my appointment rather than on Saturday like the other two letters which were dated 21 Aug.

To say I'm feeling stressed would be a bit of an understatement and am struggling to prepare myself for tomorrow. I'm actually shaking inside.

I doubt it will make any difference to your stress levels but we have just had a post from another member who has just had there assessment, if you are interested, have a look at the following

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=topic&catid=10&id=101883

In regard to tomorrow, there is not much that you can do to prepare, the best thing I can recommend is to go back through your PIP2 form to see what you said, don't forget, you can have some one with you at the assessment, a relative or a friend, even if they do not have any input tot the process.

Good luck

Gordon
