ESA WRAG follow up interview was created by Claude
Hello
My 28 yr old nephew has Aspergers, was awarded ESA WRAG Income Rel 18 months ago.
Has follow up interview in a few weeks. What questions are we likely to be asked.
He attempted some voluntary work 9 months ago , which i arranged for him, but he walked out after a few sessions, because he objects to any idea that he may need supervision.
He signed himself up to a local charity run CV Employment help course and walked out after just 10 minutes.
I am worried that they will impose demands on him that I know he will fail at or simply ignore.
His GP has provided a written letter confirming the nature of the condition, it's severity and that it is a life long condition

They will ask about his health and conditions and what he has been doing over the last 18 months, there is a strong chance that they may forward him to the Work Programme
Work Programme
I am afraid that while he remains in the WRAG there will be an expectation that he can participate in Work Related Activity, whilst they are required to take account of any limitations that result from his condition, they will most likely mandate activity and expect him to tell them if they are exceeding his limits. The GPs letter may help but does not exempt him from WRA.
A failure to participate in mandated activity will result in his benefits being reduced by the Personal Allowance, leaving the WRAG component payable at most, he can claim Hardship Payments should this happen. Sanctions can accumulate and remain in force until all of the outstanding requirements have been met.
My best advice is for someone to attend this interview with him to try and control what he is asked to do, any requirement that you deem to be too much for him can be escalated to a manager at the JC+.
