Query re Disability Premium was created by Happypants
I've just found out I've been awarded the enhanced rates on both component in PIP. To say I'm overwhelmed is and understatement!
I'm currently in receipt of ESA, income related, and am in the Support Group.
My question is: Does this mean I am now eligible for the Disability Premium? And what about the Severe Disability Premium? I have been looking on the net, and whilst it seems to say I'm now eligible, I can't quite believe that my weekly income could go up so much.
I thought I'd post here and see if anyone is able to enlighten me on this.
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The Disability Premium is not payable with ESA.
You should already be receiving the Enhanced Disability Premium (also know as Disability Income Guarantee) for being in the SG, the PIP Enhanced Daily Living qualifies you for it as well, should you move to another Income Related Benefit (other than UC).
You may be eligible for the Severe Disability Premium if you live alone and nobody is claiming Carers Allowance for you (there are exceptions to the living alone rule).

Hi L,
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Congratulations on The PIP Awards !!
Just to add to Gordon's good advice, I was talking about IR ESA Premiums earlier today.
Have a look at : This Post, and the relevant links within the post.

Thank you for your responses - it's appreciated!
Gordon, yes, I'm currently receiving the Enhanced Premium along with my ESA. From what you say, it looks like I could be eligible for the SDP then, as I live alone no-one looks after me. However, the sites I've looked at all tell me I'm eligible for the Disability premium if I'm in receipt of PIP - is this the case? Sorry to be asking more questions, but I'm finding it all so confusing.
Bro58, thank you, and I've had a quick look at the link though as I couldn't find a definitive answer to the question above, thought I'd just ask. But useful information definitely.
It all seems like a minefield at the moment, and I'm still reeling in shock....

PIP does enable the Disability Premium with other Income Related Benefits such JSA(IR) or IS but not with ESA which replaces it with the WRAG or SG component as applicable.

Hi L,
Gordon is correct regarding "The Disability Premium" the only Premiums payable with ESA are on this FAQ : ESA Premiums.
The FAQ does need updating to include PIP Daily Living as well as MR or HR Care DLA or AA, for entitlement to The SDP.
Are you sure that they were not talking about "Disability Premiums" as a genralisation ?
