Having fished out the NI Contribution Record it appears I already have over 35 years worth. Therefore additional Pension Credits would by unnecessary. As ESA(CB)is to end that will leave a LCW claim open. So in closing the or both claims is an ESA claim that is being closed or an LCW one? What confirmation can I expect to receive in writing when this has occurred? Are there any other things to look out for or to do? As this state of affairs is tied up with improvement in condition will it be necessary to attend a final closing medical to confirm this? I do not wish to choose the option of ESA(IR)having decided to call it a day.
Your ESA(CB) claim should be closed by the DWP automatically although they do not do it immediately that ESA(CB) payments cease in case the claimant makes a claim for ESA(IR).
I would write to the DWP office that has dealt with your claim saying that you wish to close your ESA claim and any ongoing NI Credits only claim.
There will be no requirement for you to attend an closing interview or medical.
