ESA and compulsory mental health treatment? was created by LizP
I know this is in your newsletter today and wondered if you had seen the following tweet by Dr Sarah Wollaston MP
'Good to hear confirmation that access to mental health therapies will be based on consent. Glad briefings to Telegraph dumped or were false'
Maybe they were just trying to mess with our heads again? but hopefully that might be an end of it? Whatever the truth this sort of briefing is very frightening.

I think the important thing for members to be aware of is that this is not currently a mandatory requirements and that they cannot be sanctioned for failing to participate.
To make it mandatory, the ESA legislation would need to be amended and there is supposed to be no space in the House of Commons "diary" for this to happen before May next year, after the General election.

It's good to know that would have to get it through the House of Commons first, and not just tack it on when they felt like it.
