Yes, we have heard of DMs contacting claimants regarding their ESA.
This phone call could simply be to tell you that a decision has been made, and what the decision is.
However, sometimes a DM will call you as they are considering making a "fit for work" decision, and they will inquire whether or not you can offer any further verbal evidence to change their minds.
Therefore it may well be to your advantage to take this call, and prepare as best you can for any counter arguments to a potential fit for work decision.
If it is "bad news" they may try and tell you that you must sign on for JSA.
That is not your only option, if you disagree with an adverse decision you can request a Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR)
